Surgery

We had Zach's biennial cleft clinic appointment at Children's Hospital on Wednesday. He meets with the cleft team of specialists and surgeons every two years and is evaluated for any treatments, etc. he might need. It went well, but we learned he needs oral surgery done now (rather than later). After his lip revision surgery last year I was hoping we were done for a while.
He was born with an extra tooth (up high and out of place) resulting from his cleft. It's been pushing his teeth out of alignment to the other side, and now he has a permanent tooth that can't descend even though he's lost it's baby tooth, because there isn't enough room for it. So they will be removing three teeth, two baby teeth and the extra permanent tooth (which is still impacted in bone above the baby tooth). The hope is that this will give the other tooth room to descend and maybe start to shift the alignment back into place.
We are going with the oral surgeon from his cleft team, and have set up surgery for June 30th at Minneapolis Children's Hospital. That will be coming up quickly, so we need to get his pre-op physical before then too. At least we can get it done while he's off school.

On a different note, we got the boys school report cards and they both did an awesome job!

We also got Jake's CogAT test results (he was selected in March as a high achieving student to be tested for gifted resources and placement). He scored better than 93 percent of second graders nationwide. Way to go Jake!
