Soren, Jake, Richard, Zach, Max
More big news from newly potty trained Max (drum roll please)...he is now sleeping in a big boy bed! So no more crib. Wow, lots of big changes going on at our house!

Tuesday was my turn to plan and host Zach's Tiger Cub meeting. I set up a tour of the Elk River police station for his den. It was fun, there were 15 little first grade boys and they were so excited!

On Wednesday the boys' school had a big Veteran's Day celebration. It started at 8:30 am with a breakfast of donut holes and juice. We had a chance to walk around and look at all of the Veteran's Day posters kids had made. Then when school started, we all went outside for a flag raising ceremony. The Elk River Honor Guard performed a three volley rifle salute. A bagpipe player (in kilts) played too.
After the ceremony outside, we all went in the gym for a really nice program. Each grade was assigned a color to wear (shirt). Then they sat in the gym so that there were three stripes - red, white and blue. There were a lot of veterans who all had an opportunity to introduce themselves, tell a little about their service to the country and introduce the students they were at the program for. It was a great program honoring veterans, with patriotic songs and essays. If you're in the Elk River Star News circulation area, look for Zach, Jake, Max and I in the group photo from Twin Lakes in the paper. :)
Here is Zach with the poster he made about his cousins Luke and Brad. Luke is an Army Combat Medic serving in Iraq and Kuwait right now. Brad is an Army Ranger and has served two tours of duty in Iraq.
Zach also got a really nice "special delivery" from his teacher. He brought home a note that reads:

Friday was a teacher's workshop day off school. We got together with Jake's original play group. We met once a week from when Jake was two until the boys were all in school (about 4 years). It was so fun to have a morning catching up with my friends, and for the boys to all see each other and play. They go to three different schools, so we don't see each other much any more. We had a great morning and then all went out for lunch to Pizza Hut. We used to do that a lot too, except now those 9 kids all eat a lot more!
Jake got his new jerseys for hockey today. Last year (and for Zach this year) the jerseys were included in the fees and we got to keep it. For Jake's team this year, we had to give a $150 deposit for his two jerseys (home and away games), he has to wear his own different jersey for practices, and we have to give them back at the end of the season! He is pretty excited though. Here he is in one of his "golden" jerseys.
