Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very busy, fun, holiday weekend!

Friday Max and I played at the park with friends from Moms Club, took a walk through the woods by the river and had a picnic lunch there too.
After the boys got home from school we all went over to our neighbors the Dusbabeks and the kids played outside. We ordered pizzas and had a bonfire - after all, it's the "unofficial" start of summer!

Saturday we took the Northstar train from Elk River to Target Field for the Twins game. We got the tickets through Cub Scouts. The kids loved riding the train!

It was a gorgeous sunny day - BUT it was 91 degrees and our seats at the game were in the BLAZING sun. It was a sold out game, so it was also wall to wall people. Let's just say that the first aid workers were kept busy treating people for heat stroke! We ended up leaving our seats after 3 innings and watching standing up down below in the much cooler shade. Ice cream helped too! It ended up being a really exciting game, with the Twins coming from behind for a win!
We had over an hour to kill before the train ride back, so we took our time making our way there. Unfortunately, apparently all the other people riding the train back went right on it to get seats! By the time we went (still 45 minutes early) ALL the seats were full. So we had to stand in the aisles, along with LOTS of other people! A really nice man gave me his seat so I could sit down and hold Max on my lap. At first I refused, but he insisted and I was so grateful! We had to be on the train for 45 minutes before it even left, then another 50 minutes or so back to Elk River. Jay, Jake & Zach had to stand until we made some stops and some passengers got off.

Sunday we spent the day cleaning and doing yard work, with a little break for cake and ice cream for our neighbor Myranda's 6th birthday.

Monday we had several families from school over for a family baseball game and picnic supper. It was really fun, and the kids had a good time playing against the parents!

Daisy even got to have a buddy over too - Kobi!

Now the kids have only two weeks left of school, then SUMMER VACATION!!!
