We've been really busy with Jay coaching Jake's baseball team this season. The end of the year tournament was Sunday, so we are officially done.
Max is playing T-ball, which he LOVES! His cousin Madison is on his team and he is so PROUD that we are all going to watch HIM play! The poor thing has been going to his brother's T-ball, baseball, soccer and hockey games since he's been born. Zach is taking golf, and he's really enjoying it too.

Madison & MaxJake turned 9 July 2nd, and had two fun parties. We went bowling with his friends from school (13 kids!!) and had his family party at home.

He's really enjoying getting to work with her and take on some more responsibilities. It's good for Daisy, because she obeys me but doesn't always listen to the kids. The class is helping that already.
We enjoyed spending time with my Mom & Dad when they came down for Jake's birthday party, and again to go to a baseball game of Jake's and a T-ball game of Max's. I really appreciate the way they always make a point of coming to watch the kids in their activities. I know the boys love it too!
Dad & Mom at T-ballFourth of July weekend we spent at my parents. Dad put in new laminate wood flooring, so Jay (and my brother-in-law Rick) were able to help him with that. It's always nice to get an opportunity to be able to help them out when they always do so much for us, and all of their kids.
While they worked hard, we kept the kids out of their hair at my sister Carol's and got some time to play in her pool and play with their cousins. Daisy had fun with her cousin Shadow too.

Jake got a rocket for his birthday. We took it up to the fields at school to fire!
We've made time for some fun play dates this summer with Chris & Paula from our old play group. It seems so weird to look at our boys who started out playing together when they were 2 - and now they are 9!
We've seen a couple of movies at the special summer morning matinees at our local theater. One week Zach brought his friend Addy from school and we went with other friends, and another week Jake brought his friend Trent from school.
The boys had a great time going to the Splash Park in Princeton. We went with Melissa and the girls and had a picnic.

We had a baseball game on my Dad's 84th birthday, but we celebrated it early with my parents and my sister Cathy and her family at her house.
We went to Como Zoo with Cathy and had a great time spending time with her, seeing the Sparky show, the animals, the conservatory and riding the carousel.

Cathy and I drove to St.Cloud to meet Mom & Carol for lunch and to shop for a dress for Mom for Luke's upcoming wedding. Luke is home safely from Iraq and he and Katie are getting married July 31st in Duluth. No success in finding a dress, but fun was had by all. Hard when Zach keeps bringing Grandma flashy dresses and saying, "How about this one Grandma?" Margie, Sarah, Hannah, Katie, Amy & baby Ava met up with us for the second half of the day, but Cathy and I had to head home in the afternoon. I think everybody on the afternoon shift got a dress except Mom!
Jake's baseball team had a very tough season. We were the bottom seeded team going into the tournament last weekend. Our first game Friday night we played a top seeded team in our division. We were ahead, then tied at the end of the game. They didn't want a tie for the tournament, so the commissioner let us keep playing. We ended up with two extra innings. Jake made a run in the top of the second extra inning and brought us into a position to win if we could keep them from scoring in the bottom of the inning. Our pitcher ended up making a GREAT catch for the third out then, and we won the game! Looking at the crowd and the kids you would have thought we won the World Series and were headed to Disney World! Jay took the whole team to Dairy Queen and bought them treats. While they were eating outside on the picnic table, cars passing by started honking at them. Of course, then they were all jumping up and down and getting all the cars going by to honk. Pretty soon an Elk River police car pulls up with his lights flashing. We thought he was going to tell us to stop. But the officer gets out and asks the kids, "Do you play baseball?" and hands out baseball cards to everybody! He even let them climb in the back of his squad car and took photos with them. It was so great. The boys were just GLOWING. One of the parents had asked everybody over to their house after the game. Even though it was getting quite late, we still stopped over for a little bit. The kids had fun playing, and the dads had fun rehashing the victory.
We ended up with 4th place in the tournament, which got the boys a trophy. A fun way to end the season!
