The Nordquist Family: Enjoying July

All three boys had a great week at Vacation Bible School. Max went mornings, from 9:00 - 11:30. Then I picked him up for lunch and a nap before going back to get Jake & Zach who attended from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. They got to spend some time with their cousins too. Kayla was in Jake's class, Madison was in Max's class, and Justin was a teacher's helper for Max's class. They all really enjoyed it and had fun each day.

Our annual camping trip with my Mom & sisters (and nieces) had a little hitch...the campground ended up being full (and we didn't have a reservation). Margie invited us to "camp out" in her basement, so that is what we did. We had a campfire (in her portable outdoor fire place), slept in the basement, and enjoyed the day floating in the lake and out on the pontoon. Not quite the camping we intended, but still fun to get together and spend time relaxing.

Last weekend we spent four days at Itasca State Park with Mom & Dad. The kids (and all of us) really enjoy going camping with Mom & Dad each summer. Carol and Rick came and spent the day Friday, and Jim and the kids came and stayed Friday night through Sunday. It was a really fun time with family enjoying the beautiful park. We did get some rain, but were glad to have the camper! The kids had so much fun riding their bikes around our campground and playing on the campground. They made lots of friends and got to hang out with their cousins. Daisy was a good camper too!

Poor Max had an accident on his bike. We were on a paved bike trail and he got going too fast down a hill. His little training wheels just couldn't take the wobbling. He hit head first and slid. Luckily, his helmet protected his head, but his face was pretty banged up, and his elbows and knees. I had a diaper in my bike basket (yep, hadn't cleaned it out since last summer!), so that actually worked great for absorbing the blood while we walked back. Faces always bleed so badly. He was a trooper though, and was back on his bike later that day.
The camper is so old and unreliable we always follow in the van (Jay driving the camper). On the way home one of the tires started to blow out, so we had an extra stop to change it. It made it though, so we were thankful for that!
